What Our Customers Say

I just wanted to share with you some of the things I heard on our trip home from your Clinic after Nicolas and Aimee first got their glasses. We know they are really for reading, computer and schoolwork, but the kids were so excited that they wore them the whole way home! The conversations were really interesting, and they were both really amazed by the TV antennas on the roof tops, they stretch right up to the sky, they're so high?, and ?there's strings attached to them?. Clearly they had never seen this detail. It was, and is, so exciting for them ? it's like there is a ?new? world for them to see. Thank you so much for the great work that you do, and the caring, patient and gentle way that you do it.

My daughter is in Year 2 at school and has suffered with migraines regularly (up to two per week) with a severity of 5. Due to her age, we had tried to work out "triggers". After unsuccessfully determining triggering factors, she was placed on Propanolol in May of 2011. Her migraines would appear * late afternoon on school days * when she became tired * after watching TV * on occasion, in sunlight Knowing nothing of Irlen at that stage, we hadn't considered that it could be a contributing factor. She began Yr 2 in February and was recognised by her teacher as a child who exhibited some of the Irlen symptoms. After diagnosis and collection of her glasses in April, she has suffered only two migraines, both of which occurred at the same place. The room she was in had unfiltered fluorescent lights and she was involved in reading activities (she did not have her glasses with her). Her teacher at school has Irlen herself and dims the lights and provides work on coloured paper for her - this could also be helping in the reduction of her migraines.

Thank you so much for helping Kydden. Since seeing you two weeks ago and using Irlen overlays his eyes have not been itching and the redness has gone and most of all, his headaches have reduced dramatically. Thanking you.

All children should be Irlen tested! It has made such a difference to her. It is like she is seeing the world and her environment for the first time. We have found the piece of the puzzle that was missing! This diagnosis has answered so many questions for us and for the first time my child has been able to express what her world looks like.

Joanne (not real name), having the Irlen lenses has literally been life-changing. She has gone from a child who wouldn't voluntarily read to one who loves to go into bookshops and choose new books, who now reads for pleasure. At school the change has been enormous. A lot of her oppositional behaviour has vanished, her marks are picking up, she does homework and assignments herself, with no prompting or nagging. When I sat in your room and heard my daughter read effortlessly, with correct inflection and attention to punctuation (she says she hadn't been able to see punctuation before), with no hesitancy, stumbling or reading. I was absolutely stunned. The difference was overwhelming. It was as if the lenses had thrown a switch for her. Spelling will always be an issue, but with a new love of reading and ability to read with ease, Jessica's spelling has dramatically improved.

During our assessment, my daughter said the following to me, when we went outside for a break. "It's great I'm getting my glasses soon, so the words will stop moving all over the page". When asked why she didn't tell Mummy, she said, "I just thought that's what the words do and I have to pull them back into place with my eyes, but the overlay stops that! It's great!"
Mrs F Fishenden
With my children experiencing problems with reading at school I took them to the Irlen Diagnostic Clinic. When they got their special coloured lenses they were able to read so much better and were so excited that they could see the words on the page and it did not hurt their eyes to read.

If you think your child is struggling at school with reading and homework issues, I recommend having them tested for Irlen Syndrome because my son and daughter both have it and cannot wait until their glasses are ready.
Ms Rzuchovsky
The Diagnostician was very good with my son and explained things well so that my son understood. I would recommend her to anyone.
KELLY
Having suffered Irlen Syndrome myself. I had an excellent improvement in my ability to concentrate and study plus increased accuracy when completing mathematical calculations after I had been diagnosed and then fitted with the correct coloured lenses. MR KEERS

Now in Year 3 and still not at the bottom of the difficulties Ryan has faced, it is amazing to hear Ryan finally articulate what words are doing on a page when he is trying to read. A simple coloured overlay, possibly eliminating the difficulties, is amazing and exciting. He is not “stupid” or “can’t read and write”, he has just been handicapped from doing it through undiagnosed vision issues. He had labelled himself, and the doctor said he had “failure to thrive” from struggling to fit into the school class room environment.

I wish I found out about this when I started school, it would of made my learning experience much more pleasant. It has helped me so much and it has only been 2 years wearing the glasses. Schools should invest their time into looking more into this matter.

MS PREMALLI

The service was fantastic. My child has struggled with reading for years. Using the coloured lenses in one session showed a difference straight away, with his reading and he even sounded more confident in reading.

MS DALY

Both Saxon and Kalan have both improved 3 levels in their reading with only filters (overlays). Can’t wait until they get their lenses.
