All children should be Irlen tested! It has made such a difference to her. It is like she is seeing the world and her environment for the first time. We have found the piece of the puzzle that was missing! This diagnosis has answered so many questions for us and for the first time my child has been able to express what her world looks like.
Now in Year 3 and still not at the bottom of the difficulties Ryan has faced, it is amazing to hear Ryan finally articulate what words are doing on a page when he is trying to read. A simple coloured overlay, possibly eliminating the difficulties, is amazing and exciting. He is not “stupid” or “can’t read and write”, he has just been handicapped from doing it through undiagnosed vision issues. He had labelled himself, and the doctor said he had “failure to thrive” from struggling to fit into the school class room environment.
I wish I found out about this when I started school, it would of made my learning experience much more pleasant. It has helped me so much and it has only been 2 years wearing the glasses. Schools should invest their time into looking more into this matter.
The service was fantastic. My child has struggled with reading for years. Using the coloured lenses in one session showed a difference straight away, with his reading and he even sounded more confident in reading.
Both Saxon and Kalan have both improved 3 levels in their reading with only filters (overlays). Can’t wait until they get their lenses.
